Dress Up Dolls
Dress-up dolls are designed to be dressed and redressed according to rising and falling trends in fashion. They are also enjoyed as elements of fantasy play, independent of the mainstream styles of a time. They may be enjoyed as playthings as well as collectibles.
Often, dress-up dolls are meant to resemble either teen girls or adult women. However those meant to look like children also exist, as well as male and even non-human models. Often, they are created from vinyl. Other plastics may also be used in their formation.
Popular dress-up dolls include Barbie, Gene Marshall, and Tyler Wentworth. Barbie was a creation of Mattel Inc. and set the standard for fashion figures for many years. More recently, the products in the Bratz line neared that market. However, from 2008 through 2009 they have been dealing with a suit filed against them by Mattel over infringement.
